My name is Eric and I have been working with computers since 1982. My mission is to help those who are new to computers find their way, and also to help others with many common, but perhaps misunderstood topics and concepts.
“I am too old to use computers.”
I can’t tell you how many times I have had someone say that to me. Here’s the thing, you are only too old if you are dead. The reason you think you are too old is because you have fallen behind, and failed to keep up with technology. This is not a lost cause though. You don’t have to become a computer programmer, you just need to be familiar with the basics. Once you begin to understand some basic concepts you will find that all of a sudden you are now younger.
There are many degrees of skill needed when working with computers. Some people are like a genius, and seem to be able to do anything with a computer, however that is not the norm as most people fall somewhere in between being a genius on a computer, or totally lost with no idea. This is not a function of age as many think. If you are older, and the younger generation has passed you by, that doesn’t mean you can’t use a computer, it merely means that no one has taken the time to walk you through the basics and explain how a computer works in a plain down-to-earth way.
I find that if I explain computers using comparisons to things and concepts you already know then the problem can be resolved and makes you comfortable enough to begin using a computer. As you begin to actually use the computer, and with a little handholding along the way, you will come to enjoy using a computer and wonder why you hadn’t done this way earlier.
I will try to get you started with some simpler concepts and then bring you along to a level where you feel comfortable. This site is not intended for those computer users who are wanting to progress way farther, there are other sites for them. ! You can fill out a form to let me know what you need.
